The initiative aims to address widespread infrastructure challenges by renovating classrooms and modernizing essential building systems. Planned works focus on fire safety, accessibility, and climate-conscious upgrades, including thermal insulation and renewable energy integration. By lowering energy consumption and operational costs, the government intends to redirect savings toward direct educational activities and long-term student support.
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Education Minister Dan Perciun emphasized that these renovations serve as a bridge between current national development goals and the European Union’s standards. The financing package includes the primary loan, an €8 million contribution from the Republic of Moldova, and an anticipated €3.5 million grant from the EU’s Neighbourhood Investment Platform. EIB Vice-President Karl Nehammer noted that the project is designed to foster a more stable learning environment, directly aligning with the country's Education Development Strategy 2030.
