CBF President Samir Xaud Faces Scrutiny Over Alleged Misuse of Funds

A storm of controversy has engulfed Brazilian Football Confederation President Samir Xaud following allegations that he funneled federation resources into personal travel and luxury accommodations. Reports suggest that CBF funds covered expenses for women associated with Xaud, including trips to New York and Qatar, claims the organization staunchly rejects.

The allegations, first brought to light by Portal Leo Dias, detail a pattern of financial irregularities spanning from December 2025 to the current FIFA World Cup preparations. Documents purportedly show that Xaud used federation money to book an eight-day stay at the Hyatt Regency Grand Central in Manhattan for fitness entrepreneur Camila Cristina Andrade, costing approximately 11,500 USD. Further claims suggest that model Tamares Fernandes Barcellos received business-class travel and a stay at the Ritz-Carlton Doha, funded by the CBF, to attend an Intercontinental World Cup match.

In response, the CBF issued a statement to Radio Itatiaia asserting that all institutional expenses are strictly professional and that directors cover their own personal costs. While the confederation maintains its commitment to transparency and integrity, reports from Infobae indicate that Xaud personally reimbursed the New York hotel charges after the allegations surfaced. Despite the scrutiny, which saw Xaud temporarily distance himself from the national team's training base in New Jersey, he was later observed in a luxury suite alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino during Brazil's 3-0 victory against Haiti.
