Congress Slams PM Modi Over Interaction With Donald Trump

Congress leader Pawan Khera has leveled a scathing critique against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, characterizing his recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump as an act of national surrender. Khera alleged that the Prime Minister failed to address the recent deaths of three Indian sailors, opting instead to prioritize personal validation.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Khera drew a sharp contrast between Modi and his predecessors, asserting that the Prime Minister’s demeanor during the encounter projected weakness. He specifically cited Modi’s reliance on prepared notes and his repeated use of the term "Excellency," a choice Khera claimed even the interpreter found inappropriate. The Congress leader accused the Prime Minister of behaving like a corporate subordinate rather than a representative of 150 crore citizens, particularly noting the lack of diplomatic pushback regarding the killing of three Indian sailors.

Khera further ridiculed the Prime Minister for seemingly accepting personal compliments on his appearance from President Trump while remaining silent on the deaths of Indian citizens. He also referenced the recent remarks by Marco Rubio directed at External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, arguing that the government’s current foreign policy approach has left India dishonored on the global stage. By labeling Modi a "Slips PM" for his reliance on scripts, Khera signaled a hardening of the opposition's stance against the government’s handling of high-stakes international diplomacy.
