Double bombing in Pakistan’s Bannu district leaves seven dead

A double roadside bombing in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province killed seven people and wounded three on Saturday, as attackers targeted a vehicle before detonating a second device against arriving rescuers. The coordinated assault in the Bannu district has prompted a security sweep, though no group has claimed responsibility.

The first explosion struck a passing vehicle, killing five individuals instantly. As emergency responders arrived at the scene in the district of Bannu, the second device was triggered, claiming two more lives. Senior police officer Yasir Afridi confirmed the casualty count, noting that three others sustained injuries during the secondary blast. Authorities have since launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators behind the attack.

President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the violence on social media, issuing a warning to the "internal and external handlers" of terrorist networks. He stated that those providing financial, logistical, or safe-haven support to such groups would face consequences. Local administrative offices in the Bannu division did not immediately respond to inquiries regarding the security breach.
