The FSB released footage of the arrest, depicting agents pinning the suspect to the ground in a public park. According to the security service, Kercho was recruited by a Ukrainian handler in August 2024 with promises of safe passage out of Russia and subsequent integration into an armed group designated as a terrorist organization by Moscow.
During the proceedings in the Krasnodar region, Kercho appeared in a glass courtroom cage wearing a tracksuit. While the FSB stated that the defendant admitted his guilt, details regarding his formal plea remain unconfirmed. The case highlights the ongoing scrutiny of foreign nationals within Russia amid the wider conflict, with the intelligence agency framing the operation as a direct attempt to compromise national defense infrastructure.
