Police identified the suspect as Oscar Sanchez-Munoz, warning the public that he remains armed and dangerous. The attacks occurred in quick succession along Interstate 670 and Interstate 70 on Tuesday evening. During the incident, an Uber passenger reported that a second vehicle pulled alongside theirs, firing twice before the driver managed to pull over and seek help.

Authorities tracked Sanchez-Munoz to a residence in Independence, Missouri, shortly after the violence. A standoff ensued, during which a fire erupted inside the home. When tactical teams eventually breached the property, they discovered the suspect had already fled. Police Chief Stacey Graves confirmed officers are actively pursuing the individual, though investigators currently find no evidence linking the shootings to the ongoing World Cup tournament. This incident follows a separate shooting just ten days prior, which left nine people injured near the English team's base camp.
