Baidyanath Ram and Parimal Nathwani Secure Rajya Sabha Seats in Jharkhand

The Jharkhand Rajya Sabha elections concluded Thursday with JMM candidate Baidyanath Ram and NDA-backed Independent Parimal Nathwani clinching the two available seats. The result marks a sharp defeat for the Congress party, whose nominee Pranav Jha failed to gather the necessary legislative support to remain competitive in the three-way race.

Baidyanath Ram celebrated his victory at the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, addressing speculation regarding cross-voting with a measured response. He acknowledged the mathematical reality of the contest, offering congratulations to Nathwani for securing the required backing to cross the threshold.

For Parimal Nathwani, the victory marks his fourth term in the Upper House. He described the outcome as a return to his "karmabhoomi," noting that his parliamentary career began in the state in 2008. In a statement posted to social media, Nathwani credited the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP leadership for his success. He pledged to prioritize the aspirations of Jharkhand’s residents as he prepares to transition back to the national legislature.
