The government’s deliberation follows an international effort to curb crude price spikes, during which Germany contributed 19.5 million barrels—or 2.65 million metric tons—to a collective 400-million-barrel release. While an interim deal concerning the Strait of Hormuz suggests a cooling of the supply disruptions that prompted the move, officials remain cautious about ending the waiver prematurely.
Despite the ongoing discussions, the ministry emphasized that the bulk of the nation's strategic assets remain untouched. Current assessments indicate no physical energy shortages within the country, and officials have signaled that no further emergency releases are currently planned beyond the existing commitment.
