The meeting, convened at 11 a.m. by Chief Whip Anil Desai and Lok Sabha leader Arvind Sawant, saw only three members in attendance: Sawant, Rajabhau Waje, and Desai. The absence of the remaining six MPs—who constitute a two-thirds majority of the faction's lower house strength—has prompted the party leadership to issue show-cause notices. These notices demand an explanation for the members' failure to attend despite receiving formal notifications.
Sanjay Raut characterized the move as a calculated act of betrayal and conspiracy, accusing the rebels of attempting to merge with the Eknath Shinde-led faction. He confirmed that documentation for disqualification is being prepared, warning that those who secured their seats under the party's banner would face severe legal consequences for violating internal mandates. Anil Desai reiterated that the disciplinary process is underway, with the notices serving as the first step in determining the future of these members within the organization. The standoff unfolds against the backdrop of "Operation Tiger," a series of reports suggesting a broader exodus toward Shinde’s camp, threatening to dismantle what remains of the UBT faction's legislative presence.
