Shiv Sena UBT targets absent MPs with disciplinary notices

Six Shiv Sena (UBT) Members of Parliament face formal show-cause notices after failing to attend a mandatory party meeting in Delhi on Thursday. The move follows a three-line whip issued by the leadership, aimed at curbing internal instability amid persistent rumors of a potential breakaway group joining the rival Shiv Sena faction.

Party MP Anil Desai confirmed the disciplinary action after the gathering concluded, noting that every absentee will be required to explain their lack of communication. The party leadership contacted members via multiple channels, including direct messages and WhatsApp, yet several representatives remained silent regarding their attendance or intentions.

Senior leader Sanjay Raut set a defiant tone before the meeting, labeling those who skipped the session as traitors. The party remains on high alert for what has been termed 'Operation Tiger,' a suspected effort to fracture the UBT faction's parliamentary strength. While nine Lok Sabha MPs, including Arvind Sawant and Sanjay Jadhav, appeared at the Parliament office to reaffirm their allegiance, the absence of six members has deepened the divide within the party's ranks.
