JMM accuses BJP of deploying corporate influence in Jharkhand poll

As polling stations opened in Ranchi for the Rajya Sabha elections, JMM leader Manoj Pandey leveled sharp accusations against the BJP, claiming the opposition alliance is fighting a battle against money-driven politics. Pandey specifically decried the presence of a Gujarat-based industrialist, characterizing him as a pawn for legislative poaching.

The electoral contest for two Rajya Sabha seats has pitted JMM candidate Baidyanath Ram and Congress nominee Pranav Jha against Independent candidate Parimal Nathwani, who holds the backing of the NDA. Pandey insisted that the INDIA bloc maintains a clear numerical advantage, challenging the BJP to produce evidence for their own path to victory. He questioned how the party expects to secure the necessary 28 votes without resorting to financial manipulation.

JMM General Secretary Mithilesh Kumar Thakur echoed these sentiments, rejecting the notion that their legislators could be swayed by external wealth. Thakur specifically targeted Nathwani, dismissing his history of victories in Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh as products of financial leverage rather than genuine support. With voting scheduled to conclude at 4 pm and results expected by evening, the ruling alliance maintains that their coalition remains unified and immune to the influence of what they describe as a political 'dhan kuber.'
