KTR escalates campaign against Telangana ministers over corruption claims

With currency-counting machines failing to keep pace with the alleged spoils of office, BRS Working President K T Rama Rao has launched a blistering offensive against the Congress government, accusing senior ministers of systemic extortion, illegal land-grabbing, and a total abandonment of pre-election welfare commitments.

Addressing party workers in Paleru, Rama Rao singled out Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy for what he described as a regime defined by commission-based governance. He pointed to the lingering silence surrounding past Enforcement Directorate raids, demanding an accounting of seized funds that he claims have vanished from public discourse. According to the BRS leader, Ponguleti has effectively turned the Khammam district into a hub for intimidation, utilizing his son as a proxy for mining operations and disputed land acquisitions.

The critique extended to the government’s infrastructure record, specifically the stalled promise of 20 lakh houses. Rama Rao asserted that the administration has mastered the art of demolition—citing the overnight destruction of homes in Velugumatla—while failing to deliver on the Rs 6 lakh construction assistance pledged to citizens. He warned that the government is preparing to reintroduce land taxes, a move he claims will place an untenable burden on the farming community.

Beyond specific policy failures, the BRS leader drew a dark parallel between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s governance style and authoritarian leadership. As the party moves to capitalize on growing public discontent, Rama Rao urged supporters to contrast the current volatility with the BRS era, citing the Sitarama Project and consistent power supply as benchmarks of their previous tenure. He characterized the current Congress leadership not as agents of development, but as architects of a state-wide decline.
