Jharkhand Rajya Sabha Polls Get Underway as NDA Backs Nathwani

A fleet of BJP and NDA legislators departed from a Ranchi hotel this morning, heading to the Legislative Assembly to cast ballots for two vacant Rajya Sabha seats. The high-stakes contest pits JMM’s Baidyanath Ram and Congress nominee Pranav Jha against Independent candidate Parimal Nathwani, who has secured crucial backing from the NDA.

Polling stations opened at 9 am and are scheduled to close at 4 pm, with the final tally expected by early evening. The BJP’s decision to throw its weight behind Nathwani stems from what State General Secretary Amar Kumar Bauri described as a history of effective tenure and strong rapport with local representatives. Bauri expressed confidence that the partnership would bolster the NDA’s regional influence.

Contention remains high as the opposition questions the alignment, prompting sharp rebuttals from BJP leadership. Spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo dismissed criticism from the Congress party, framing the support for Nathwani as an endorsement of public welfare policies. Meanwhile, LJP(RV) MLA Janardan Paswan signaled internal unity within the coalition, suggesting that the final results will reflect a decisive shift in legislative support by the time counting concludes at 5 pm.
