Trump Deflects Responsibility for Fatal Iran School Strike

Speaking on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains, Donald Trump insisted that the February strike on a girls' school in Minab was an unintentional error of war. The incident, which killed over 175 people, remains under Pentagon investigation following reports that US forces likely directed the lethal fire.

The February 28 attack, occurring on the first day of the conflict, devastated the school in southern Iran. While Trump previously suggested without evidence that Tehran was responsible for the tragedy, he now claims to await the conclusion of an internal military inquiry. The President maintained that the strike was not a deliberate act, dismissing the possibility of malice despite early findings from a Reuters investigation suggesting the use of outdated intelligence in targeting packages.

US Central Command describes the probe as complex, largely due to the school’s proximity to a facility operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Archived records confirm the school sat adjacent to the military compound, a detail central to the ongoing assessment. Although the Pentagon has yet to formally acknowledge preliminary conclusions, the military command indicates the investigation is nearing its final stages.
