Searches are currently underway at multiple properties linked to Traber, a figure whose influence in the city's port and shipping sectors spans three decades. Reports from outlets including Fontanka indicate that an associate was also taken into custody as part of the same operation. While official statements remain absent, the probe appears to revisit violent criminal history from recent years.
Traber holds a 31.7% stake in the Primorsk deep-water port, a massive infrastructure project intended to anchor Russia’s Arctic Sea Route. His career trajectory began in the post-Soviet 1990s, when he secured control over St. Petersburg’s primary sea and oil terminals during the period Vladimir Putin served as deputy mayor. Despite long-standing speculation regarding their professional relationship, the Kremlin has consistently denied any personal or business ties between the two men.
