Vaiko’s meeting at the Secretariat focused on blocking the plant’s resurgence, a cause he has championed for decades. He submitted a formal memorandum to the Chief Minister, emphasizing that his opposition remains rooted in protecting local livelihoods. During the discussion, the MDMK leader also praised the current administration for its transparency, noting that the government is operating without the influence of commission-based corruption.
Beyond environmental policy, the meeting served to coordinate an upcoming event on August 4, where Vaiko plans to unveil a compilation of his parliamentary speeches from the past 30 years. He confirmed that Chief Minister Vijay accepted an invitation to receive the first copy of the book, which will be released by Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan. While Vaiko remains firm on the Sterlite issue, he indicated that the MDMK General Council will meet Thursday to formalize the party’s official stance on broader political matters, reflecting on a career spent advocating for public causes over partisan interests.
