Speaking on CNBC, Vance emphasized that the administration anticipates long-term, unrestricted access to the strait. This objective remains a core component of the current negotiations, as both nations work to reconcile significant logistical details. The pact, which follows months of conflict that began with US-Israeli strikes in February, has already provided a measure of stability to global energy markets.
Despite the optimism surrounding the framework, the deal remains contingent on a broader cessation of hostilities in Lebanon and notably excludes Tehran’s nuclear program from the immediate agenda. Iran is expected to dispatch its foreign minister and House speaker to Switzerland this Friday for the signing, though the White House has yet to name its own representative for the event.
