Israel Rejects U.S. Diplomatic Framework for Regional Withdrawal

Ignoring the diplomatic timelines proposed by Washington, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has declared that the nation will maintain its military positions across Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza. The announcement serves as a direct challenge to a recent U.S.-Iran deal, signaling a deepening rift between the allies regarding regional security policy.

Katz has reportedly briefed President Donald Trump on the decision, explicitly rejecting the international withdrawal schedules favored by the White House. He accompanied this refusal with a warning to Tehran, asserting that any Iranian-backed aggression originating from Lebanon will trigger an immediate and forceful Israeli military response.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir amplified this hardline stance, publicly dismissing the U.S.-led diplomatic initiatives as non-binding. Writing on X, Ben-Gvir maintained that Israel’s sovereignty remains absolute, vowing that any hostile action from Lebanese territory would be met with decisive strikes against proxy strongholds.
