US Strike Eliminates Tren de Aragua Leader in Venezuela

A green-roofed building in Venezuela was reduced to rubble this week as US forces, acting in coordination with local authorities, conducted a precision strike that killed Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores. The operation targeted the head of Tren de Aragua, a criminal organization designated by the US as a terrorist entity.

Donald Trump announced the death of the man known as "Nino Guerrero" on Truth Social, describing the action as a swift and lethal maneuver. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth later confirmed the mission was a joint effort, with the Venezuelan government providing intelligence and technical support. During the subsequent clashes at the compound, Venezuelan security forces verified that the syndicate leader was killed.

Guerrero faced pending racketeering and terrorism charges in a New York federal court for a decade-long criminal campaign. This strike marks a significant escalation in the administration’s aggressive posture toward Tren de Aragua. Since early September, military operations targeting the gang’s maritime drug-smuggling routes have resulted in at least 207 deaths across the Caribbean and eastern Pacific. Officials maintain that these actions are necessary to dismantle the network responsible for surging violence and illicit drug distribution within American cities.
