Rahul Gandhi Targets Modi Over Fatal U.S. Strike on Indian Crew

Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, labeling him a "compromised" leader for his silence regarding the deaths of three Indian sailors. The crew members were killed when a U.S. military strike hit the commercial vessel MT Settebello near the coast of Oman.

The Opposition leader took to social media to argue that the Prime Minister lacks the fortitude to hold international powers accountable for the loss of Indian lives. Gandhi contrasted Modi’s active participation in global diplomatic summits with what he described as a failure to protect the nation's citizens abroad.

The strike occurred after the MT Settebello was accused of violating a naval blockade surrounding Iranian ports. While 21 of the 24 Indian crew members were successfully rescued from the incident, the deaths have triggered a diplomatic friction point. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has formally summoned the U.S. Charge d'Affaires to register a protest against the military action. Officials are currently coordinating efforts to repatriate the remains of the deceased sailors to their families.
