Philippine Military Dismisses Chinese Sanctions Against Defense Chief

The Philippine Armed Forces have rallied behind Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, rejecting the recent sanctions imposed by Beijing as a groundless attempt at political coercion. Military leadership maintains that these punitive measures will have no bearing on the nation’s security posture or its ongoing operations in the South China Sea.

Rear Admiral Roy Trinidad, the military’s spokesperson for the region, characterized the move as a transparent exercise in pressure that fails to address the realities on the ground. He underscored that the defense establishment remains focused on its constitutional mandate, regardless of external diplomatic friction.

According to the military command, the sanctions will not deter the country's commitment to its maritime obligations. The leadership insists that operations continue unaffected, framing the Chinese government's response as a distraction from the fundamental duties of the Philippine defense apparatus in protecting national sovereignty.
