The disqualification has ignited a confrontation between the Congress party and the Election Commission. Party officials met with the Chief Election Commissioner earlier this week to protest the ruling, characterizing the process as biased. Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, intensified the rhetoric on Thursday, accusing the commission of coordinating with the BJP to predetermine election outcomes.
Gandhi pointed to a perceived double standard, contrasting the rejection of Natarajan’s papers with the case of Parimal Nathwani. He alleged that the BJP-backed candidate was permitted to rectify errors in his nomination, whereas similar leniency was denied to the Congress nominee. This disparity, which Gandhi labeled 'seat chori,' forms the core of the political tension surrounding the upcoming court proceedings.
