Gandhi pointed to a stark discrepancy in how the Election Commission handled nomination errors. While Natrajan saw her candidacy for the Madhya Pradesh seat rejected despite meeting requirements, the commission allowed Parimal Nathwani, a BJP-backed independent from Jharkhand, to rectify flaws in his paperwork after the submission deadline. This inconsistent application of rules effectively clears the path for three BJP candidates in Madhya Pradesh to run unopposed.
Beyond the procedural grievances, the Congress leadership claims the Election Commission repeatedly avoided meetings to address these concerns. By labeling the partnership between the regulator and the ruling party a 'Jugalbandi,' Gandhi suggests the integrity of the biennial election process is being systematically undermined to benefit the BJP's parliamentary standing.
