Kamlesh highlighted the case of independent candidate Parimal Nathwani, who received support from the BJP in Jharkhand despite five alleged inconsistencies in his nomination papers identified by Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain. The party leadership argues that while Natarajan’s candidacy was rejected following BJP complaints, Nathwani was granted extended time to rectify his documentation. This perceived disparity, according to the Congress, threatens the perceived impartiality of the electoral body and undermines democratic norms.
Following the disqualification of Natarajan, the path has cleared for BJP candidates Tarun Chugh, Rajneesh Agarwal, and Mahesh Kewat to enter the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh unopposed. The Congress maintains that the Election Commission’s handling of these nomination disputes signals a lack of parity, fueling ongoing political tensions as the party seeks accountability for the regulatory discrepancies.
