Congress Alleges Election Interference in Madhya Pradesh

The rejection of Meenakshi Natrajan’s nomination for the Rajya Sabha in Madhya Pradesh has ignited a confrontation between Congress and the Election Commission. General Secretary KC Venugopal condemned the disqualification as a calculated theft of a parliamentary seat, citing the commission’s silence on formal complaints as evidence of systemic bias.

Beyond the electoral dispute, Venugopal moved to quiet internal anxieties regarding a rumored realignment between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP. He dismissed the speculation as baseless, clarifying that recent consultations between Mamata Banerjee and national leadership were strictly aimed at bolstering the India Alliance coalition ahead of future political cycles.

Shifting focus to the national economy, the Congress leadership criticized the central government for failing to contain rising prices for fuel and essential goods. Venugopal pointed to the stagnant MSME sector and persistent unemployment as proof of a governance crisis that has left both students and workers in a state of growing financial uncertainty.
