US Strikes Iran as IRGC Claims Strait of Hormuz Closure

The United States launched a fresh wave of self-defense strikes against Iranian military targets, spanning from Tehran to Bandar Abbas, prompting immediate retaliation from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Amidst the escalating hostilities, Iran declared the Strait of Hormuz closed to all maritime traffic, a claim the US military swiftly disputed.

CENTCOM confirmed the strikes followed warnings from President Donald Trump, who later stated that 49 Tomahawk missiles targeted sites within Iran, some within 64 kilometers of the capital. US fighter jets reportedly continue to neutralize radar and air defense systems in the country’s southwest. In response, the IRGC launched two waves of attacks against 18 installations housing American personnel across the region.

While the IRGC announced an immediate closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial and oil vessels, CENTCOM countered that maritime traffic continues to flow through the chokepoint. Tensions further spiked as air raid sirens echoed across Bahrain, forcing the Interior Ministry to issue emergency safety directives. Meanwhile, conflicting reports emerged regarding potential back-channel communication; while Trump claimed top Iranian officials reached out to request a ceasefire, Iranian media denied any such contact occurred. Brigadier General Majid Mousavi, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, vowed that any further destabilization of the Strait would turn the entire region into a conflict zone.
