Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth met with executives from BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin this past March to address systemic bottlenecks in the supply chain. Despite White House spokesperson Anna Kelly’s insistence that current munition levels remain sufficient to meet the president’s strategic objectives, the administration is prioritizing the expansion of domestic manufacturing capacity.
While the government has established framework agreements with industry leaders like Lockheed Martin and RTX to boost missile output, these arrangements have yet to transition into binding contracts. Pentagon negotiators are now intensifying efforts to finalize these production targets, seeking to move beyond preliminary discussions and secure tangible commitments that ensure long-term military preparedness.
