Israeli Airstrikes Claim Thirteen Lives in Southern Lebanon

Thirteen people died Wednesday as Israeli airstrikes struck southern Lebanon, deepening a regional cycle of violence. Nine of the victims were killed in Dayr Debba, a village situated eight kilometers east of Tyre, according to reports from Lebanon's state-run National News Agency as the military confrontation intensifies.

The strikes target Hezbollah positions, marking a grim escalation in a conflict that has persisted for over three months. This period of hostility began following a joint U.S.-Israeli operation against Iran, triggering a volatile chain of retaliatory missile exchanges and strikes across Beirut and beyond. Lebanon’s health ministry reports the toll has surpassed 3,700 deaths, a figure that includes 730 children, women, and medical personnel, while 1.2 million residents have been forced to flee their homes.

Hezbollah officially joined the fray on March 2, citing the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader as the catalyst for their involvement. The human cost on the other side of the border is also mounting; Israeli officials confirm the deaths of 28 soldiers and four civilians resulting from Hezbollah’s ongoing missile and ground assaults.
