The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed its Aerospace Force successfully destroyed four primary targets at an airbase in Al-Azraq, Jordan. According to official Iranian statements, the strikes neutralized hangars housing F-35 fighter jets and a critical command and control center. Simultaneously, the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and the Ali Al Salem Base in Kuwait faced incoming fire, prompting the Kuwaiti General Staff to activate air defense systems against hostile aerial targets.
Regional authorities have scrambled to manage the fallout. Bahraini officials issued urgent shelter-in-place orders for civilians, while the status of the Jordanian facilities remains unconfirmed by Amman. This rapid expansion of conflict follows President Donald Trump’s public accusation that Iranian forces shot down a patrolling US Army helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. In response, American aircraft struck radar and defense installations across Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask, and Qeshm Island earlier Wednesday.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi signaled that Tehran has no intention of de-escalating, asserting that Iranian armed forces will provide a lethal response to any further threats. The regional instability has already impacted commercial shipping, with reports of a Palau-flagged tanker, the MT Marivex, sustaining damage from a missile strike near Oman after attempting to bypass a US blockade of Iranian ports.
