Modi’s European Tour Targets Strategic Tech and Trade Alliances

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on a six-day European tour beginning June 13, aimed at deepening strategic ties with France and Slovakia. The diplomatic itinerary bridges high-level summits with innovation-focused engagements, including the G7 in Evian and the VivaTech conference, to solidify India's influence in global technology and economic policy.

The visit begins in Nice, where Modi meets President Emmanuel Macron to review the Special Global Strategic Partnership. Central to this stop is the 'Bharat Innovates' event, a showcase for startups and venture capital designed to accelerate the India-France Year of Innovation. From France, the Prime Minister travels to Slovakia for a state visit—the first by an Indian leader since the nation gained independence in 1993. Talks with Prime Minister Robert Fico and President Peter Pellegrini will focus on trade expansion and investment, building on foundations laid during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit earlier this year.

Following the bilateral sessions, the focus shifts to the G7 Summit in Evian on June 16-17. Modi will engage with world leaders on economic recovery and the complex challenges of AI deployment. The tour concludes in Paris at the VivaTech Summit on June 18, where the Prime Minister is set to address the local Indian community. By balancing high-stakes multilateral diplomacy with targeted tech-sector outreach, the trip underscores India's evolving role as a pivotal partner for European economies.
