India Weighs Extending Tax Relief on Key Petrochemicals

India Weighs Extending Tax Relief on Key Petrochemicals

The government is evaluating the extension of tax exemptions originally implemented in April, which currently cover 40 distinct petrochemical products. Ravi Teja, deputy director at the Department of Commerce, confirmed that the policy remains under active review to ensure local businesses retain their competitive edge. By reducing the financial burden on imports, officials hope to provide a stable operating environment for producers reliant on these raw materials. This strategy aligns with a wider national push to fortify domestic supply chains and maintain consistent economic growth across key manufacturing corridors.
