YSRCP Slams Minister Lokesh Over Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Conduct

A heated political standoff has erupted in Andhra Pradesh following Minister Nara Lokesh’s visit to families affected by the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant crisis. The YSRCP has accused the minister of displaying blatant arrogance and failing to show the necessary empathy toward those mourning the recent industrial tragedy.

YSRCP spokesperson Vangaveeti Narendra leveled these allegations during a press conference in Tadepalli, labeling the minister’s interactions with trade union leaders as dismissive and inappropriate. Narendra argued that such conduct undermines the gravity of the situation and highlights a lack of accountability from the current administration.

Beyond the behavioral critique, the opposition party took aim at the Telugu Desam Party’s broader policy failures. Narendra claimed the government has abandoned its campaign pledges concerning the future of the steel plant and failed to leverage its alliance with the Centre to secure meaningful relief. He contrasted this alleged inaction with the YSRCP's handling of the 2020 LG Polymers gas leak, positioning his party as the more responsive force in times of crisis.
