Sanjay Raut Demands Prime Minister Modi Face the Press

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has issued a sharp challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling for a formal press conference to account for his 12-year record. Raut’s demand signals a deepening rift, as the opposition seeks to pivot from political rhetoric to a direct audit of governance.

Speaking in Mumbai, the veteran leader dismissed the current administration's performance when measured against the industrial and institutional legacy left by Jawaharlal Nehru. Raut argued that the foundation of India’s public sector remains a benchmark the BJP has failed to reach, characterizing recent administrative struggles as symptoms of a wider systemic failure.

These criticisms coincide with a push for consolidation within the INDIA bloc. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is coordinating a series of strategic sessions to sharpen the coalition’s approach, including discussions on fielding a common candidate to challenge the BJP’s electoral hold. By demanding transparency, Raut aims to force a shift in the national narrative, moving the focus toward the tangible outcomes of the last decade.
