BJP Dismisses Congress Allegations Over Electoral Revision Process

Accusing the opposition of manufacturing outrage to mask electoral failures, BJP spokesperson Prakash Reddy on Tuesday defended the Special Intensive Revision as a long-standing administrative norm. The rebuttal follows intense criticism from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who recently labeled the exercise a calculated effort to disenfranchise voters.

Reddy asserted that the revision process remains consistent with procedures utilized during previous Congress-led administrations, dismissing claims of constitutional overreach as politically motivated theater. He specifically targeted Kharge for his rhetoric at an INDIA bloc gathering, arguing that the opposition party frequently invokes electoral misconduct only after suffering significant losses at the ballot box.

Adding to the party's firm stance, BJP MP Sambit Patra characterized the accusations as a tired, repetitive strategy. By framing the dispute as a distraction from dwindling public support, the BJP is attempting to shift the narrative back toward the routine nature of the voter registration process, rejecting the opposition's calls for a unified front against what they describe as systemic electoral manipulation.
