Albuhari’s critique centers on the disillusionment felt by partners who initially joined the coalition under the assumption that Congress would champion federalism. According to the DMK leader, this sense of betrayal is not isolated; he pointed to AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal as another key figure who remains deeply skeptical of the coalition’s internal power dynamics and commitment to its members.
The rupture reached a breaking point over Congress’s maneuvers in Tamil Nadu. Albuhari accused the party of abandoning its allies to court actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which secured 108 seats. By aligning with TVK while disregarding established alliance protocols, Congress effectively signaled a shift toward post-election power consolidation at the expense of its existing partners. This perceived breach of trust prompted the DMK to withdraw from the INDIA bloc, citing a lack of respect that made continued cooperation untenable.
