BJP leader Anurag Thakur has leveled accusations of systemic corruption and fiscal mismanagement against the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government, demanding transparency regarding alleged bribery within the administration. Speaking from Hamirpur, he characterized the current state leadership as disconnected from public needs and focused on luxury rather than governance.
Thakur pointed to internal dissent within the ruling party, noting that even government vice-chairmen have raised alarms about bribery. He challenged officials to disclose the origins of these financial improprieties, framing the allegations as a breach of administrative integrity. Beyond internal strife, he criticized Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for his dismissive rhetoric toward election candidates, suggesting the administration is struggling to reconcile with recent electoral losses. The critique extended to the state’s fiscal health, specifically citing unpaid liabilities for the Bhanupali-Bilaspur rail line. Thakur questioned the viability of launching new infrastructure projects while existing commitments remain unfunded. During a tree plantation event for the 'Now for Climate' initiative, he pivoted to environmental concerns, urging the government to prioritize forest preservation and pollution control over political posturing to address ongoing climate degradation.
