Labeling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the 'Inflation Man,' the Indian National Congress has launched a sharp offensive against the government’s economic record. Party leaders argue that a deliberate post-election surge in fuel costs is destabilizing household budgets and undermining the rights of farmers, women, and marginalized communities nationwide.
Rahul Gandhi spearheaded the critique, alleging that the administration artificially suppressed fuel prices during the election cycle only to allow them to climb once the voting concluded. This volatility, according to Gandhi, imposes an undue burden on the average citizen's finances. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge further amplified this narrative, stating that the government has abandoned its commitment to equality and justice. In a video shared on X, Kharge questioned the long-term vision of the current leadership, asserting that the persistent rise in energy costs acts as a catalyst for broader societal strain. By framing the policy as a direct attack on the welfare of vulnerable groups, the opposition aims to shift the political focus toward the immediate economic pressures facing Indian families.
