Telangana Political Clash Intensifies Over Singareni Coal Allegations

A potential investigation into a Rs 1,600 crore coal discrepancy has ignited a sharp dispute between Telangana’s political factions. BRS leader KT Rama Rao is demanding a judicial probe into the missing 40 lakh metric tonnes of coal, while the BJP promises to hold previous administrations accountable for the losses.

The controversy centers on Singareni Collieries Company Limited, where KTR claims unaccounted coal stocks have been diverted for illicit financial gain. In a letter to Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy, he challenged both the Congress and BJP to address the missing inventory and alleged mismanagement in solar tenders and CSR funds. KTR warned that the BRS is prepared to launch large-scale protests if the Centre ignores the demand for an inquiry led by a sitting judge.

BJP leader Boora Narsaiah Goud countered these accusations by framing the issue as a legacy of past corruption. He committed the party to a policy of zero-tolerance, pledging that a future BJP administration would track down and recover all misappropriated funds. The back-and-forth reflects a deepening struggle for political leverage in Telangana, with both sides positioning themselves as the true defenders of the public sector entity against systemic malpractice.
