Twelve legislators took their oaths of office today, marking a strategic restructuring of Assam’s administration as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma solidifies his third consecutive term. The induction ceremony, overseen by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, officially integrates a mix of seasoned party stalwarts and fresh faces into the state government.
The new ministerial cohort includes BJP representatives Ashwini Ray Sarkar, Nilima Devi, and Sushanta Borgohain, alongside Asom Gana Parishad veteran Keshab Mahanta. The list further features former Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, signaling a shift in the executive hierarchy. Rounding out the cabinet are Ashok Singhal, Bimal Borah, Jayant Mallabaruah, Kaushik Rai, Krishnendu Paul, Pijush Hazarika, and Ranoj Pegu.Sarma signaled his intent to sharpen the government’s operational focus shortly after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance secured its decisive electoral victory. By bringing these 12 members into the fold, the Chief Minister aims to bolster administrative reach and policy implementation across the state.
