Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy Quits Cabinet Days After Oath

Two days after being sworn into the Karnataka cabinet, minister Ramalinga Reddy has submitted his resignation. Despite the sudden departure from his post, the veteran politician maintains his loyalty to the Congress party, emphasizing that his half-century affiliation with the organization remains stronger than his desire for a ministerial seat.

Reddy, who was assigned the Major and Medium Irrigation portfolio, reportedly expected a different role within the administration. Sources suggest he held strong aspirations for the Bengaluru development portfolio, a position that remained out of reach during the latest cabinet formation led by DK Shivakumar.

At a press conference, Reddy displayed his resignation letter while distancing his professional exit from his political identity. He highlighted his decades of service under former chief ministers M Veerappa Moily and SM Krishna to demonstrate his commitment to the party hierarchy. This internal friction surfaces just as the new cabinet begins its tenure, signaling potential challenges for the state's leadership transition.
