Beijing Rejects OECD Subsidy Findings as Politically Motivated

China has formally dismissed a Monday report from the Paris-based OECD that accused the nation of driving global industrial subsidies to post-crisis highs. Beijing insists its domestic policy framework remains in strict alignment with World Trade Organization rules and warned against the weaponization of economic research for political objectives.

The Commerce Ministry challenged the OECD’s methodology, arguing the organization’s assessment fails to reflect the reality of China's industrial governance. By urging a more objective analytical approach, Chinese officials signaled a growing friction with international bodies that scrutinize state-led economic support. The OECD report had previously highlighted that government intervention in industry has reached its most aggressive level since the 2008 global financial meltdown, naming China as the primary architect behind this surge.
