Deutsche Börse Expands DAX 40 Trading to 24/7 Schedule

German exchange giant Deutsche Börse has officially extended trading for DAX 40 stocks to a 24/7 cycle. By integrating its 360X platform into the existing infrastructure, the operator now allows investors to execute trades in blue-chip equities well beyond the traditional market hours that have long defined European finance.

The new round-the-clock service operates through 360X, a multilateral trading facility where Deutsche Börse holds a significant stake. This implementation utilizes a Request-for-Quote (RfQ) module, ensuring that liquidity remains accessible even when the primary Xetra system is dormant. Eric Leupold, head of cash market at the group, positioned the move as a foundational shift toward building a truly continuous European market infrastructure.

Despite this expansion, the core Xetra exchange remains the primary venue for standard trading hours, which run Monday through Friday from 09:00 to 17:30, with extended retail services available until 22:00. The exchange operator emphasized that the 24/7 service operates independently of Xetra’s standard auction cycles. Closing prices generated on the 360X platform during off-hours will not influence the opening auctions or reference prices on the main exchange, preserving the integrity of the core market processes.
