Christian Staub Takes Helm at Fidelity’s German Investment Platform

Christian Staub has stepped into the role of supervisory board chairman at FIL Fondsbank, Frankfurt’s investment platform for Fidelity International. Effective September 1, 2026, the appointment marks a significant return to a high-profile leadership position for the veteran asset management executive following a period of reduced responsibilities.

Staub succeeds Ferdinand-Alexander Leisten, who formerly directed Fidelity’s German operations. The platform, which administers roughly 700,000 securities accounts and holds over 50 billion euros in assets, is positioning itself to capitalize on Germany’s upcoming pension reform. Fidelity anticipates that the introduction of a funded component to the statutory pension system will create substantial demand for private retirement services, a sector where the bank aims to play a central role.

This appointment follows a strategic re-engagement for Staub, who stepped down as head of Fidelity International in Europe in March 2024 for personal reasons. Since May 2026, he has served as a senior advisor to the firm and joined the board of the Munich-based family office provider DIANA Family Affairs in July. His career includes senior leadership tenures at Pimco and Blackrock, establishing him as a prominent figure in the European fund industry long before his Harvard Business School training culminated in his current responsibilities.
