Trump described the facility at Pickaxe Mountain as a primary concern for US security, emphasizing the necessity of preventing Tehran from acquiring atomic capabilities. The president stated that the depth of the site, shielded by millions of tons of rock, requires specific tactical considerations to neutralize effectively. Despite the intensity of the ongoing conflict, which escalated following US-Israeli strikes in February, he maintained that conventional firepower is sufficient to breach these defenses.
While the president did not clarify whether he has authorized the deployment of the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb—the military’s largest non-nuclear conventional weapon—he underscored that the administration has no intention of committing ground troops to the region. The current strategy relies exclusively on aerial force, aimed at crippling infrastructure without resorting to nuclear escalation.
