YSRCP General Secretary Lella Appi Reddy and Legal Cell President Manohar Reddy have formally petitioned the election nodal officer, citing a surge in targeted violence across Punganur, Rayachoti, and Tadipatri. According to the party, the assault on Midhun Reddy’s convoy is merely the latest incident in a campaign of obstruction that includes the detention of candidates, the filing of retaliatory legal cases, and physical attacks on party workers. Appi Reddy accused the incumbent government of weaponizing the police to suppress opposition participation, noting that officers remained passive in Punganur despite prior warnings of impending unrest.
Manohar Reddy detailed a mounting list of grievances, including the harassment of Tadipatri chairman candidate Fayaz Basha and the arrest of former MLA Sridevi’s son in Pattikonda. To regain control of the electoral environment, the YSRCP is demanding that the State Election Commission deploy central paramilitary forces and mandate CCTV surveillance at all sensitive nomination sites. They insist that without immediate intervention to protect candidates and ensure the fair issuance of administrative certificates, the legitimacy of the upcoming polls remains in severe jeopardy.
