Roberts brings over 27 years of international development expertise to the post, including a 16-year tenure at the bank. His recent background at the helm of the ASEAN Power Grid and Special Fund Unit—where he managed a $10 billion investment ambition—positions him to tackle the complex financing needs of the region. Prior to his work with the bank, he held roles at GE Capital and the consultancy Cambridge Energy Research Associates.

In his new capacity, Roberts oversees a broad portfolio that spans transport, clean energy, and public service reform. His work will align with the national Socio-Economic Development Strategy for 2026–2030, focusing on high-quality investments and public-private partnerships. By bridging policy dialogue with project financing, he aims to strengthen the country’s resilience against climate-related disasters while fostering sustainable industrial development.
