Congress Fires Back at Rajnath Singh Over Regime Change Allegations

Pawan Khera dismissed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's accusations of orchestrating a Bangladesh-style uprising, asserting that the Opposition’s goal remains the fundamental democratic process of winning power at the ballot box. The Congress leader framed the current political friction as a standard campaign to unseat the government through electoral victory.

Addressing the media at the AICC headquarters, Khera labeled the government’s reaction as a sign of an administration unaccustomed to democratic pushback. He invoked the 1977 transition of power to illustrate that shifts in leadership are a regular feature of India’s parliamentary framework, not a destabilizing threat. The Congress party’s 'Vote Chor Gaddi Chhodd' campaign serves as the centerpiece of their strategy to challenge the current system, according to Khera.

This rebuttal follows remarks from Rajnath Singh in Lucknow, where the Defence Minister accused the Opposition of weaponizing youth-led protests against the Election Commission to incite disorder. Singh contended that such actions mirror external political upheavals, suggesting the Congress is manipulating students to foster chaos rather than engaging in constructive nation-building. As both parties trade barbs over the legitimacy of recent protests, the tension highlights a growing divide regarding the boundaries of political dissent in India.
