Sakshi Maharaj Links FCRA Protests to Foreign Funding Conspiracy

BJP Member of Parliament Sakshi Maharaj has accused foreign entities of financing protests against the proposed Foreign Contribution Regulation Act Amendment Bill. He claims these demonstrations are part of a coordinated effort by anti-national forces to derail India’s progress and block the government’s vision for a developed nation by 2047.

Maharaj drew parallels between the current legislative push and past controversial milestones, specifically the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He dismissed warnings of widespread unrest surrounding those events as unfounded fear-mongering and suggested the same pattern is repeating regarding the FCRA amendments.

Central to his argument is the claim that over ₹30,000 crore enters India annually via foreign contributions. The MP alleged these funds are being weaponized to facilitate religious conversions and destabilize the country. He explicitly stated that these financial flows are intended to alter the nation's religious fabric rather than serve charitable causes. To combat this, Maharaj advocated for rigorous financial oversight, including mandatory disclosures of bank accounts, annual returns, and strict verification of fund utilization. He further identified states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal as primary targets for conversion activities, citing the vulnerability of marginalized communities. In his view, the opposition to the bill is not directed at the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Home Minister Amit Shah, but is instead a direct challenge to the sovereignty and future stability of India.
