A former Lok Sabha MP from Haryana and a member of the BJP Parliamentary Board, Yadav brings an academic background in chemistry from IIT Roorkee to the gubernatorial role. Her political trajectory began following the death of her husband, a BSF Deputy Commandant killed during the Kargil War. Since then, she has served as a member of the National Commission for Backward Classes and emerged as a significant OBC leader within the party.
Her appointment is part of a broader shift across Indian states confirmed by President Droupadi Murmu earlier this week. The reshuffle includes Dhal Singh Bisen moving to Uttarakhand, Braj Mohan Ram to Odisha, and Dushyant Gautam to Sikkim. Additionally, the administration reassigned Om Prakash Mathur to Kerala and Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to Tamil Nadu, continuing a series of transitions within state leadership across the country.
