New Diagnostic Tech Bolsters Delhi's Lok Nayak Hospital

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a high-end 256-slice CT scanner and three MRI machines at Lok Nayak Hospital on Thursday. Provided by the Indian Oil Corporation under a corporate responsibility initiative, the equipment aims to provide free, world-class diagnostic services to the city’s high-volume public healthcare facility.

The new hardware significantly upgrades the hospital’s diagnostic capacity across neurology, cardiology, and oncology. Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh confirmed that these services will be offered to patients free of charge, addressing the needs of the densely populated surrounding district. Beyond radiology, the hospital has recently integrated a Lactation Management Unit and Nucleic Acid Testing to expedite HIV and hepatitis screenings.

During the unveiling, Gupta highlighted the 'Anmol Yojana' program, which screens newborns for genetic disorders via a single blood sample shortly after birth. She emphasized that these infrastructure investments are central to the government's objective of removing financial barriers to quality care. While focusing on medical expansion, the Chief Minister also challenged political opponents to shift their discourse from personal criticism toward substantive policy debates, specifically citing public safety concerns and institutional misconduct at local universities as areas requiring more urgent legislative attention.
